Humans have developed and used many different types of fuels. In the book Fuel and Ecocritical History the author Heidi C.M. Scott mentions the brief development of energy sources utilized by humans that were biomass fuels such as wood and sun to fossil fuels including oil and coal. She also claimed that the new form of energy sources not only have substituted the obsolete energy sources, but also changes human society because it “correlates with cultural evolution” (Scott 4). In other words, she argued that the type of energy source has a huge impact on human society.

The best strength of Orem’s Self-care Deficit Nursing Theory is that it focuses on the self-care. In other words, if human has the strong will to perform self-care activities and pursue a better life, you can get assistance from various resources including human, facilities, and policies. In addition, although I had only focused on nurse’s self-care in this paper, these concepts can be applied to other professions, if each factors are identified in their own aspects.

This theory stressed about nurses’ assistance to help patients’ their self-care deficits. However, I thought it doesn’t include the process about how this self-care is perceived. I am worried that it could be interpreted as claiming that burnout is caused because the one doesn’t have enough will and power to overcome the difficulties as nurse. But what I wanted to explain is that nurse just need to concentrate on maintaining self-care and prioritize oneself the most.

However, the theory leans significantly towards the role of nurses in helping patients address their self-care deficits. This inclination potentially reveals a shortfall, namely its limited insight into the personal perceptions and internalization of self-care. This oversight could inadvertently promote the belief that burnout is exclusively a consequence of insufficient resilience or willpower to overcome the hurdles of nursing. Nonetheless, my central argument underscores that nurses should place a high priority on self-care and their personal well-being.
